LG is one of the few OEMs that ships its devices with a locked down bootloader and does not offer any official bootloader unlocking tool as well. While the company had initially promised to release a bootloader unlocking tool for the G3, it decided against it later for some reason. Thanks to a locked down bootloader, third-party development for LG’s latest flagship has been severely crippled. That changes today though, as Team Codefire has managed to find a way to unlock the bootloader of all variants of the LG G3....

A report from earlier today had claimed that Google had cancelled the second-generation ‘muskie’ in favor of an even bigger ‘taimen’ device. With HTC manufacturing the smaller ‘walleye’, it was assumed that the company was also going to manufacture ‘taimen.’ Turns out as per a bug posted on the AOSP issue tracker, LG is possibly the OEM that is manufacturing ‘taimen’ for Google. The bug posted was related to USB PD Compliance failure, with a Google engineer chipping in and asking the bug to be closed and moved inside the relevant “Partner > External > LGE > Taimen > power” folder....

LG is all ready to make a big bang at the upcoming MWC to be held on 24th February this year in 2019. Some might remember them teasing by showing a video, well, apart from the new gesture controls, not much was seen, still it got the stirs needed. LG has officially announced they will soon be releasing their high-end 5G supported smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. The LG G2 was announced during an August event that was filled with specs, but short on ship dates.
