Actress Lindsay Lohan’s mother, Dina Lohan, was arrested for a DWI and leaving the scene of a crash. Dina had been in the news before regarding her divorce from her husband and drinking habits.
Lindsay Lohan grew up in a turbulent home environment having started off at a young age. At 10-years-old she was signed with the Ford Modeling Agency which granted her regular appearances on Another World. Disney made her a household named when they announced that she would be starting in the remake of The Parent Trap. The actress had always said that she felt like a parent after her mother and father divorced in 2007, leading her down a turbulent road of dealing with the law due to drug use.
According to Us Weekly, Dina was arrested on Saturday, January 11th after a night of allegedly driving around while intoxicated and then leaving the scene of a car accident in Long Island, New York. The mother of five was charged with a felony DWI and pleaded not guilty in the courtroom on January 12th. The 57-year-old was said to be back in court on Wednesday, January 15th. Dina’s lawyer, Mark Heller, released a statement saying that his client had pleaded not guilty during the morning arraignment and was released. The star was said to be resting comfortably at home and did not have to pay bail.
Heller went on to say that there had not been a formal test to establish how intoxicated his client may have been and would be back in court to fight the case on her behalf. According to the police, Dina had been driving a Mercedes Benz at around 7 pm on Saturday when she crashed into a Honda CRV. The troubled star then decided to drive away from the scene without supplying her information. The victim called 911 and followed Dina where they found her sitting in the driver’s seat with the engine running. A policeman on the scene said that he had smelled alcohol on her breath and that Dina’s eyes were bloodshot. When the officers asked her to step out of the car, she allegedly fell, face-first to the ground. Dina then refused to take a breathalyzer test as she said she only had drunk one glass of wine.
The car that Dina was driving had an expired registration and she had a suspended license from July 2019 for failure to pay her New York taxes. Fans of the family will recall that Dina was arrested back in 2013 for driving un the influence and pleaded not guilty. The mother was sentenced to community service and issued a fine. Her daughter, Lindsay had also been arrested over the years for DWI’s and since has moved abroad to try and stay under the radar.
