Libratone Airplay 2 Support Now Available For Its Wi Fi And Bluetooth Speakers

Libratone announced over the summer that two of its portable speakers would work with AirPlay 2 this year. Starting today, Libratone AirPlay 2 support is now available. Libratone ZIPP and ZIPP mini users can update their speakers through the Libratone iOS app to add AirPlay 2 support:

Both the compact ZIPP mini and full size ZIPP Bluetooth and Wi-Fi speakers now work with AirPlay 2 which delivers improved audio streaming from iOS, multi-room playback alongside HomePod and other AirPlay 2 speakers, and Home app support for assigning speakers to rooms in HomeKit.

ZIPP and ZIPP MINI owners can update to AirPlay 2 by downloading the Libratone app from the App Store and following the instructions to update the firmware. The free software update allows compatibility across the entire Libratone ZIPP home speaker range.

Libratone’s portable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speakers boast up to 10 hours of battery life as well which makes these more versatile than other AirPlay 2 speakers on the market. You can use AirPlay 2 over Wi-Fi alongside HomePod, Sonos, and other AirPlay 2 speakers at home, or take Libratone ZIPP and ZIPP mini on-the-go and stream audio over Bluetooth away from home.

ZIPP mini and ZIPP are also priced below HomePod at $249 and $299 — $100 and $50 below HomePod’s list price. Apple has also said it will release a second AirPlay 2 speaker under the Beats brand, but connection and price details are unknown for now.

Apple Stores are also now carrying ZIPP mini in a unique color, Atlantic Deep, priced at $199.95.
