LG today announced the world’s first smartphone with DAB+ digital radio support — the Stylus 2. The handset will be available in Australia, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway and the UK.
The Stylus 2 also comes with a DAB+ chipset and an “exclusive app” that will allow owners of the handset to enjoy digital radio on it. DAB+ is a new technology that is slowly replacing analog FM in most markets of the world. This new technology provides better audio quality, and does not require any data to work. LG had initially unveiled the Stylus 2 a couple of weeks before MWC 2016. The mid-tier phone comes with a ‘Protruded Flat Display’ 5.7-inch 720p display, a 1.2GHz quad-core chip, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 13MP rear shooter, an 8MP front camera, and a 3,000mAh battery. As always, LG did not provide any details regarding the availability and pricing of the Stylus 2, and will only be revealing them closer to the availability of the handset.
