A long time ago, before smartphones were a thing, Nokia sold a family of feature phones that were targeted to the female demographic. They had flowers engraved on the front and back of the device, they came in hues such as pink and red, and they featured wallpapers that a young boy would call “girly”. Samsung copied this whole-heartedly a year or two ago with their “La Fleur” collection, and while there’s no sales data to back up what I’m about to say, I have feeling they didn’t sell too well.

According to Unwired View, LG has just pulled a Samsung (technically Nokia) and announced their own flower phone, the “Special Edition” Optimus L5 II. It’s a basic 4 inch WVGA handset powered by a MediaTek chip, but what makes it stand out is the unique flower patterns on the front and back of the device.

Will people, specifically women, buy this phone instead of the regular L5 II? I highly doubt that. For one thing, cases are cheap and easily replaceable. If a girl really wants a pink phone, chances are she can find a pink case for it. If she’s lucky, then there will be a pink version of that device available, like the Galaxy S4.
