For some strange reason, cats have been very popular in media during the month of December and they all have a terrifying quality to them. With the release of the Cats, a movie version of the popular Broadway play, people aren’t sure how they feel about the feline creatures anymore. The first audience to see the trailer saw it with unfinished CGI, but ecen when the final look was revealed, there is still something eerie and haunting about it.

Than there is Don’t F**k With Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer where the audience is taken through an investigation of a man that kills cats on the internet. Pet Sematary (1989)

Pet Sematary is a movie based off a novel of the same name by Stephen King. The Creed family have recently moved from Chicago to Main. While the change in scenery is nice, the pet sematary in the backyard is not. While the family is away for thanksgiving, Church, their cat, is run over.

The creed family buries Church When in a Miꞌkmaq burial ground, but he doesn’t stay their for the long. Church comes back to life, but not like he was before the accident. He’s mean, stinks, and does not move like he used to. Church is the scariest kitty on this list.

Captain Marvel (2019)

Marvel’s first female-central film, Captain Marvel, was released in March 2019 and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.

While Carol Danvers is the main charter in this story, it was a cat named Goose that stole the show. While being cute and cuddly is his main skill, Goose is also the reason Nick Fury needs an eye-patch. Goose is an extremely cute kitty who is also an alien.

Oliver and Company (1988)

Oliver and Company is an animated Disney film based on Charles Dickson’s Oliver Twist. It is a musical that came out in 1988 and was directed by George Scribner.

This movie is about Oliver, a kitten without a home. Oliver joins a dog gang that helps him survive living on the streets. Oliver is a kitten who just wants a home, but has a hard time fitting in. In the end, he finds more than just home; he finds two! He is accepted in the dog gang and also shares the affectionate care of Jenny, a human girl takes care of him.

Shrek 2 (2004)

Sherk 2 is a direct sequel of the first Shrek movie. The animated movie came out in 2004 and was directed by Andrew Adamson, Kelly Asbury and Conrad Vernon.

Shrek 2 introduced the cutest and best sword fighting cat that there ever was in a movie named Puss in Boots. When he was first introduced, he was trying to kill Shrek, but now he is part of the crew. Puss in Boots is a musketeer kitty that can take anyone down that gets in his friends way.

Cat’s Eye (1985)

Cat’s Eye is an anthology film from 1985 written by Stephen King and directed by Lewis Teague. There are three different stories told in this movie. The first one is called “Quitters, Inc.",  the second is “The Ledge”, and the last is “General.”

All three different shorts are connected by one character: a time traveling tabby cat with no owner. While the the cat doesn’t play a major role into the last short, it’s sure to grab your attention. Like anything Stephen King has written, this anthology is sure to creep you out and make you fear the unknown.

The Cat Returns (2002)

The Cat Returns is a 2002 Japanese movie animated by Studio Ghibli and directed by Hiroyuki Morita. This movie is spin-off of Whisper of the Heart, another Studio Ghibli movie.

Haru Yoshioka is a highschooler who is able to talk to cats. When Haru saves a cat from being ran over, her life gets tuned upside. It turns out that the cat she saved is named Lune and he is Prince of the cat kingdom. Haru is asked to marry the prince, but she hesitates ti answer. Lune takes her hesitation as a yes and thing progress from there.

Aristocats (1970)

Aristocats is a 1970 animated movie that takes place in Paris. The film was directed by Wolfgang Reitherman and was the 20th animated movie that came out from Disney. Aristocats is one of the cutest and most heartwarming cat movies ever produced.

This movie is about Madame Adelaide’s cats. Duchess is the mother and her three kittens are named Toulouse, Marie and Berlioz. This movie is about Duchess having to choose to live with Madame Adelaide or go with Thomas O’Malley, a stray cat she fel in love with.

Kedi (2006)

Kedi is a 2016 Turkish documentary created by Ceyda Torun about the different types of cats around Istanbul. The cats range from wild street cats to ones that are tame and taken care of by people in the town. This very feline centered movie follows seven cats: Duman, Sari, Bengü, Gamsiz,  Aslan Parçasi, Psikopat and Deniz.

This documentary is very special and went as far is to use a special camera rig to film cats on the street. This movie is 79 minutes of cats being themselves in the place they call home and it’s just as cute as it sounds.

Alice in Wonderland (1951)

Alice in Wonderland is a classic Disney animated film that came out in 1951. Alice in Wonderland was Disney 13th animated movie to ever come out.

Alice in Wonderland is not only a popular movie, but also a classic novel that came out long before the film. It is the story of a girl who longs for adventure and gets one that will give for a lifetime. On her adventure, she meets the infamous and mischievous Cheshire Cat, who has become a very popular pop culture icon. Cheshire Cat is such a great charter because of the way he talks. His way of speech is how you would imagine the way a cat would talk in real life.

Kiki’s Delivery Service (1989)

Kiki’s Delivery Service is a 1989 Japanese movie from Studio Ghibli and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. This movie was originally in Japaneses, but has been dubbed and subbed in multiple different languages. Kiki’s Delivery Service is about a 13 year old witch that has finally come to age and leaves home. In her new town, she takes off with her cat companion Jiji, her radio, broom stick, and clothes and takes off for an adventure of a life time.

Jiji is not only Kiki’s cat, but also her best friend. He is always ready to go on adventures with her. In this movie, Jiji falls in love with a local cat and starts a family of his own. Kiki and Jiji are still the best of friends and continue living their best life in the port city of Koriko.
