A stunning set released by LEGO allow young fans to truly embrace their inner wizard and build their own Hogwarts in true Harry Potter style. Created by J.K. Rowling, the world and journey of Harry Potter began life as a series of fantasy novels. The first, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, was released in 1997. The saga quickly found a passionate fanbase of all ages. That passion only grew with each installment. The series considered an outright cultural phenomenon by the time the final book, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, was released in 2007. As of last year, the books have sold more than 500 million copies worldwide. As such, it is the best-selling book series in history - despite belated efforts to ban Harry Potter from schools.

The series also spawned an equally popular and successful cinematic franchise. Starring Daniel Radcliffe as the titular boy wizard, the first two installments were released in 2001 and 2002, respectively. Each film featured a veritable mix of legendary British actors and future Hollywood stars - including future Batman Robert Pattinson. It also saw a range of directors take the helm - until David Yates stepped in to bring to life each of the four final books. The cinematic saga came to an end with Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - Part 2 in 2011. Though it’s not quite been a decade since the release of the closing chapter, the idea of a reboot has already been mentioned. Even Tom Felton (who played Draco Malfoy) thinks a reboot will happen someday, albeit 20 or so years down the line.

Thanks to Walmart Canada and LEGO, Harry Potter fans won’t have to wait to have a new piece of that world to call their own. As part of Walmart Canada’s Christmas Gift Guide for 2019, a number of LEGO sets have been released. This particular set allows fans to build the Hogwarts Castle and comes complete with towers, turrets, chambers, classrooms, creatures, the Whomping Willow and Hagrid’s hut. It includes 4 mini-figures such as Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin and Rowena Ravenclaw, in addition to their buildable display stand. The Hogwarts Castle also features the Great Hall with buildable ‘stained glass windows’, moving staircases, and professor Dumbledore’s office with the Memory cabinet.

Other areas of Hogwarts are also available - including The Whomping Willow and even Aragog’s Lair. Equally, Walmart Canada have 50 Tech and Electronic Gift Ideas on offer. Adjacent to Harry Potter sets, there is also one centered on Newt Scamander’s case of magical creatures. Newt is, of course, the lead character in the Harry Potter prequel franchise, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Again directed by David Yates, the film was released in 2016. Though not quite living up to the Harry Potter saga, it was still successful enough to spawn a 2018 sequel. A third installment has also been greenlit, with Fantastic Beasts 3 set to start filming in Spring 2020.

For most fans, however, Harry Potter will also have an especially deep-rooted place in their hearts. And Hogwarts is no doubt central to that. While Fantastic Beasts offers a glimpse at previous untapped eras and parts of the world, there’s a reason fans were as eager as Harry to return to Hogwarts each year. The fact that they can now have a Hogwarts of their own at home - in order to let their imaginations soar and wizard battles rage - will surely delight Harry Potter fans of all ages.
