Here’s when DC’s Legends of Tomorrow season 4 returns and what to expect from it when it does. The Arrowverse’s time-traveling superhero series skipped the Elseworlds crossover and instead had an insane midseason finale crossover… with themselves… across several alternate realities. Continuing their current separation from the rest of the Arrowverse, Legends of Tomorrow didn’t return in January like Supergirl, The Flash, and Arrow, but is instead returning in April.

Legends of Tomorrow continues to be the weirdest (and some fans say best) show in the Arrowverse. Season 4 took the strangeness to the next level by recruiting John Constantine, replacing Vixen with a doppelganger shapeshifter named Charlie, and making their new mission capturing escaped magical creatures called Fugitives. So far, the Legends have battled a murderous unicorn, an insane Fairy Godmother, a Minotaur, a giant kaiju octopus that inspired Godzilla, and even a mass murderer possessing a puppet of the late Martin Stein. While all of that was happening, Nate Heywood left the Legends to take a job at the Time Bureau, and Ray Palmer reunited with Nora Darhk, who then turned herself into the custody of the Bureau.

Meanwhile, the Big Bad of Legends of Tomorrow season 4 was revealed to be Neron, a demon who wanted to manipulate John Constantine into helping him overthrow the triumvirate that ruled Hell. Neron targeted Desmond Leveau, the man Constantine loves, forcing the British warlock to condemn Dez to Hell in order to also banish Neron. However, Neron has still managed to breach dimensions to Earth-1 and Constantine was so haunted by what he did to Dez, he broke time itself in order to save Dez’s soul. This created a series of alternate realities where the Legends became ruthless killers (and also puppets). In the midseason finale “Legends of To-Meow-Meow”, Constantine, Charlie, and Zari Tomaz finally managed to repair the timeline and set things right.

Now that Constantine has come clean to his fellow time-traveling misfits about the threat Neron poses, here’s when Legends of Tomorrow will return with the remaining 8 episodes of season 4.

When Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 Returns in 2019

Legends of Tomorrow returns on April 1, 2019. The reason for the four-month hiatus was so that The CW can accommodate a new series debut, the reboot of Roswell, New Mexico. However, instead of Legends of Tomorrow returning to its 9 pm timeslot, the series will kick off the night’s primetime viewing at 8 pm, which allowed Black Lightning to wrap up its season before Arrow takes over its 9 pm slot.

What To Expect From Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 Part 2

After John Constantine finally did the right thing and placed the importance of the timeline over Desmond, he confessed everything to Sara Lance, reaffirming his commitment to the Legends. Now that Sara knows about Neron, the heroes can begin taking steps to face the Big Bad, and this will no doubt also involve their friends at the Time Bureau, which is headed by Sara’s girlfriend Ava Sharpe. But none of this means they won’t still be facing new fugitives each week.

Judging by the Legends of Tomorrow season 4 return trailer, the Legends are continuing their bizarre adventures by kidnapping Richard Nixon, wrestling in Mexico, performing a Bollywood musical, and more. But none of that can truly distract them from the mission at hand - defeating Neron.

One of the season’s other big mysteries has been Project Hades as well, which Nate’s father Hank Heywood works for. Hank has been secretly using the Time Bureau’s imprisoned fugitives for secret experiments “Legends of To-Meow-Meow” ended with a huge reveal that Neron is on Earth. The demon is possessing the body of Desmond and he is the man in charge of Project Hades Hank answers to. All of this will come to a head when Legends of Tomorrow returns in April - and maybe Beebo will return as well.
