Legends of Tomorrow, the Arrowverse’s time-traveling squad of heroes, is, without doubt, The CW’s craziest DC series of all time, for all the right reasons. Having fought the Legion of Doom, Time Masters, to supernatural threats, the Legends will probably have done and seen it all by the time the series ends. With the power of time travel and magical forces, the Legends have had to face a lot in the last four seasons since its beginning in 2016. Season 5 is approaching, but, even before its premiere, The CW has already renewed it for a sixth season that will air in the 2020-2021 TV season.

With more adventures coming up, only time (no pun intended) will tell what craziness waits for eager Legends viewers. 2019 was a big one for the Waverider crew as the second half of season 4 intensified the supernatural action to higher levels. As everyone waits for season 5 to premiere, it’s time to look at all the episodes of Legends of Tomorrow season 4 that aired in 2019.

Lucha de Apuestas

The mid-season premiere is probably one of the worst days for Mona of all time. From being fired by the Time Bureau to discovering that Konane’s scratch had turned her into a Kaupe, Mona couldn’t catch a break in this episode. With a title like “Luca de Apuestas," there were definitely some promised wrestling fights as the Legends end up in 1961 Mexico City that involves a fight or two.

Egg MacGuffin

The 13th episode reveals Sara’s inner shipping abilities as “Egg MacGuffin” becomes a big Nate/Zari centric story, but it doesn’t take long until the problem that is Neron takes center stage. Ray discovers that the villainous being had gotten inside of him and was now trying to take full control. Taking advantage of Ray’s care for his friends, The Atom ends up giving up his body to host Neron. For anyone who wanted to see an evil version of Ray Palmer, they got exactly what they wanted.

Séance and Sensibility

Legends of Tomorrow wasn’t fully involved with the musical crossover between The Flash and Supergirl, but that doesn’t stop this show from having its fun musical adventures every once in a while. In “Séance and Sensibility," several of the main stars get to showcase their singing abilities which becomes a highlight of the 11th episode. But, during all the musical joy, Nate discovers his father’s big plan for the magical creatures. Rather than hurt them, Hank was planning on turning Nate’s proposed childhood theme park into a reality for the creatures.

The Getaway

The tenth episode of season 4 essentially became about making Mona a Legend. “The Gateway” starts with drama for Mona when Sara initially clashes with her. But it doesn’t take long until the two women find an understanding as Mona becomes a member of the squad.

While that went down, Hank’s partnership with “Desmond” (who was in fact Neron using his body) become another big plot point. After Nate exposes Hank for having tried to take down the Legends, he gets his father to promise him to give it up. In an attempt to part ways with “Desmond”, Hank is tragically killed by Neron.

The Eggplant, the Witch & the Wardrobe

As a nod to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the 12th episode puts a new spin on it, with an eggplant being the exception. Nate finds his father’s construction site for the magical creature theme park which becomes one of the emotional points of episode 12. But that didn’t stop the episode from having its magical drama as Neron is still running around. With the foe taking Ava in hopes of making her his next vessel, it becomes Sara’s mission to save Ava’s soul from Purgatory. For any AvaLance shipper, this was a good episode for the couple.

Nip/Stuck

Without doubt one of the nuttier titles of the season, “Nip/Stuck” becomes one of the final three episodes that bring the Neron plot full circle. However, the standout plot of the episode is Gary, with his hypnotizing nipple, taking over the Time Bureau. This is where the image of a Mona, as Wolfie, biting the evil nipple off.

As if that weren’t dramatic enough, Constantine goes on quite the roller coaster in this episode. From meeting his ancestor in 55 BCE to ending up traveling to Hell to save Ray’s soul, the Hellblazer began his wildest ride yet on the show.

Terms of Service

The penultimate episode majorly feels like an episode of Constantine’s TV show as viewers go to follow John to Hell.  What started as the quest to save Ray’s soul ends up turning into something far more personal for Constantine. With Neron set to take over the underworld, Constantine ends up running into Astra that ties back into the storyline that never ended in the NBC series. But the Astra he remembered is all grown up and having been raised in Hell, puts quite the twist for the 15th episode.

Hey, World!

The season finale became the ultimate point for the supernatural adventures that season 4 had been going through. As Constantine’s adventures in Hell intensifies, Neron and Tabitha begin going through with their plan to turn Earth into the new Hell. If any episode of Legends of Tomorrow can best describe all the levels of insanity that the show is capable of, “Hey, World!” is probably the episode to use as an example. From the Legends opening up Heyworld, a giant dragon, defeating Neron to Zari changing her future, “Hey. World!” has it all, thus being the best Legends of Tomorrow episode of 2019.

Although given how the finale ends with Astra unleashing a bunch of original sinners from Hell, season 5 is going to keep the Legends quite busy. While they first have to deal with the Crisis, season 5 will reveal what threats await the legends on Tuesday, January 21.
