Eternals concept art gives fans a close look at Richard Madden’s live-action costume as Ikaris. Introducing the MCU’s newest crop of heroes, Chloe Zhao’s upcoming film boasts a star-studded cast. Angelina Jolie as Thena, Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Don Lee as Gilgamesh were initially announced as the movie’s primary key players. Meanwhile, casting Gemma Chan as Sersi, Barry Keoghan as Druig, and Kit Harington as Black Knight were belatedly announced.

Plot specifics for Eternals are still scant at the moment, but with production in full swing, set photos have given the public an idea about what it’ll be about. In the comics, the Eternals is is a group of super-powered beings created by the Celestials. Essentially immortals, the movie’s events are expected to span thousands of years, although the main narrative will be set after Avengers: Endgame.

A leaked concept image of Madden’s Ikaris for Eternals has made its way online, giving fans a closer look at the character’s suit. Shared by Twitter fan account Secret of Eternals, the image reveals the actor donning a suit patterned after the hero’s comic book look, but with a few tweaks here and there. The same thread also reveals a closer look at Hayek’s Ajak. Check out the illustrations below:

Fans seem to generally like the images, particularly Ikaris’ costume. Although a few of them noted the lack of the color red in his suit, and expressed their desire to see more of that, as well as his gloves to give it a more comic book accurate look. It’s worth noting that this image (as well as Hayek’s) appears to be a variation of the concept art that Marvel Studios debuted at last year’s D23 Expo, where MCU architect Kevin Feige presented the cast on stage. This one, however, shows that the chest details of his suit seemingly glowing. Meanwhile, his right hand appears to be lighting up as well, as if it’s getting ready to fire. The effect is reminiscent of Captain Marvel’s (Brie Larson) photon blasts and it’s interesting to wonder if it functions the same way.

With principal photography for Eternals on its final leg, the film will soon enter post-production. At this point, there’s no word yet when Marvel Studios will roll out the first trailer for the movie, but it’s starting to ramp up its marketing machine with the release of a special Chinese Lunar New Year poster. Between that and the filming supposedly being almost done, fast can expect some kind of a teaser for the movie soon, perhaps even around the time Black Widow hits theaters. Admittedly, that may not debut Ikaris in this costume (or any other hero for that matter), but it will give the public a first look at the MCU’s newest key players.
